HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR LASER SKIN RESURFACING?
If you have sun-damaged skin, age spots, acne scars, freckles lines and wrinkles, redness, or pigmentation concerns, laser skin resurfacing treatment may help address these cosmetic flaws. Men and women both benefit from the rejuvenating outcomes of a laser peel. If you have very dark skin or active acne, this may not be the treatment for you. You may also be asked if you have a medical history of cold sores, acne, rosacea, or any other medical condition that may be triggered by heat.
OUR ICON LASER SKIN RESURFACING TECHNIQUE
Once you have consulted with Dr. Padma and a treatment plan is set up, she may prescribe a topical retinoid for 2 - 3 weeks before the first session takes place. On the day of your in-office laser skin resurfacing, we will set you up in one of our treatment rooms. Once you are prepped and ready for your laser skin resurfacing, we may apply a topical anesthetic (or something stronger) to help with any discomfort. All you have to do is lie back and let us pass the Icon laser handpiece over your facial skin. You will feel the heat of the laser followed with cold air from the built-in cooling system. The laser energy works to eliminate dead and damaged skin cells, improves the appearance of wrinkles and scars, and stimulates new collagen production.
AFTER YOUR LASER SKIN RESURFACING
We will apply a soothing serum on your skin before we send you home to recover. Your freshly treated skin may look pink with some irritation and swelling. These symptoms subside in a few days and the peeling process will last over a 3 - 5-day timeframe.
Sunscreen is so important for all our patients, especially after laser skin resurfacing treatments. It is vital to the health of your skin to protect it from UV exposure. Generously apply sunscreen frequently. Your skin will naturally crust, flake, and peel off. It is crucial to avoid accelerating the recovery process to prevent scarring and to protect your face from sun exposure. After the peeling process has finished, your skin should feel softer while looking rejuvenated, younger, and clearer.
